The first day back was always the slowest. Amber had come across more unfamiliar faces than not and was becoming a little overwhelmed. Amber had never been the most social of people, which many people took mistakenly for concededness. She had always been more of an observer, an absorbent sponge that took in all the feelings and emotions around her and just analyzed them.
Looking for a little piece and quiet, Amber make her way into the lounge. She found her favorite armchair, curled herself up in it, and pulled out 'On The Road' by Jack Kerouac. She imediatly settled into the piece of literature, the buzzing of excited students becoming only background noise to her.
